My personal gym journey

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2012, a diagnosis that felt like a gut punch. The following years were a rollercoaster of flare-ups, hospital stays, and weight fluctuations. Medications were a lifeline, but they often came with side effects, including significant weight gain. I felt trapped in a cycle of sickness and discomfort.

Then I discovered the gym. At first, I was hesitant. I was weak and tired, and the thought of physical exertion seemed daunting. But with encouragement from my doctor and a supportive community, I started slowly. Over time, I found that exercise, particularly strength training, helped manage my symptoms in ways medication alone couldn’t. My body became stronger, and I felt more capable of handling flare-ups.

The gym has become my long-life treatment. It’s more than just a place to work out; it’s a sanctuary where I can regain control and improve my quality of life. While I may still experience flare-ups, they’re less severe and more manageable thanks to the strength and resilience I’ve built through exercise.

Inspired by my own journey, I decided to become an exercise specialist. I wanted to share my knowledge and experience with others who were struggling with chronic conditions. By teaching people how to manage their symptoms through exercise and a healthy lifestyle, I feel like I’m giving back to the community that has supported me. It’s a way of paying it forward and helping others find the same relief and empowerment I’ve experienced.
